APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY APRIL 4, 2024
RULES:
Any senior graduating from the Clay County Public School System in 2024 is eligible to apply. Home School students are also eligible if they reside in Clay County.
Recipients of the scholarship are selected on the applicant’s community service involvement, communication skills, and letters of recommendation. A GPA is not required to apply for the scholarship.
Scholarship recipients must attend an accredited post-secondary program of study, including colleges, universities, or vocational/technical schools in the Fall of 2024. Scholarship awards will be mailed directly to the enrolled institution and applied to the student’s account. Awards not redeemed by December 31st, 2024, will be forfeited.
Only packages postmarked on or before APRIL 4, 2024, will be eligible. Packages must be mailed by regular mail to the address above. Do not use certified or registered mail. No hand deliveries will be accepted. You will receive an email confirming receipt of your package. Be sure to check your junk or spam folders.
Part I: ESSAY
In no more than 500-words, prepare an essay on the topic “What do you consider the most pressing societal problem we face today? Why? How would you solve it?” The essay should be typed and double-spaced. Correct grammar, spelling, and sentence structure are required. Essays exceeding 500 words will be disqualified. The Application Form serves as your cover page.
Part II: COMMUNITY SERVICE, AWARDS, RECOGNITION
List on a separate page, in detail, the following information:
a) Community services you have performed in grades 9 – 12.
b) Awards and/or recognitions you have received in grades 9 – 12.
Part III: LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION
Provide two letters of recommendation on official letterhead stationery, with original signatures, as follows:
1) A letter of recommendation from an adult school representative (for example, your school counselor, the school principal, or a teacher).
2) A letter of recommendation from a community member who has worked with you or witnessed your contribution to the community (for example, your church minister, or the president of the organization where you received an award or performed community service).
