Environment

The Orange Park Woman’s Club Environment Community Service Program encourages awareness of our natural resources and caring for the world around us. It offers information and ideas to promote environmental appreciation and protection. Work to preserve, maintain, and restore our natural resources; protect habitats for plants and animals; and develop sustainable habits.

Environmental education; care for our air, land, and water; recycling; litter cleanup; partnerships with community groups, schools, and children; support of wildlife; energy conservation; tree planting; and beautification – this is what the Environment Community Service Program is all about.

Orange Park Woman’s Club members work together to become stewards of the environment, by designing and supporting conservation activities in the local community.

Updates:

The Environment CSP will meet on Monday, December 2nd at 10 AM in Miss Lucy’s Parlor to make Christmas decorations, pins and other items from recycled material to sell at the December 20th GFWC District 4 Christmas Celebration in Green Cove Springs. We will be making small Christmas boxes, snowman tea light pins, key chains, glasses cases, and small baskets. As al- ways, we are not planning to earn our retirement dollars, just having a little fellowship, and help- ing to save the planet by repurposing household items into other useful items and temporarily reducing the amount of trash in our landfills. Come join us, learn something new and establish or build relationships with our fellow members. We look forward to seeing you.

Fellow member, Talitha Chestnut, owner of House of Dazzle and our ticket vendor for the Fabulous 50’s Gala, is collecting small bottles of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and soap (travel size or hotel sample size) for the Mission House. If you have any of the items listed above, please bring them the next time you visit the clubhouse. The Environment Committee will collect them to help the individuals in our community who are less fortunate than ourselves. Many thanks.

Remember to recycle, reuse, repurpose!
