Health & Wellness
The Orange Park Woman’s Club Health and Wellness Community Service Program is designed to inform members of issues that affect the well-being of individuals, families and communities by providing opportunities and resources to meet and address needs through volunteering. Through this program, clubs may develop and implement creative projects that promote a healthy lifestyle; increase awareness, prevention, research, and treatment of disease; target personal development; address the issues of hunger, inadequate housing, and homelessness; and/or prevent or correct financial difficulties.
Orange Park Woman’s Club members work together to design and support home life activities in their local communities.
Upcoming Activities:
We hope everyone enjoyed our canine visitor from K9s for Warriors at the November General Meeting. Your generosity brought in over $150 dollars that we will donate to this worthy cause helping our veterans. There were several ladies who cooked at the Ronald McDonald House (RMH) on Monday, November 18. The chef at RMH was great to work with but had us do all the work! We look forward to cooking again in the near future. We will keep you posted when we plan to cook again. We were also given a tour of the house itself and learned about its history. The original Ronald McDonald House opened in 1988 and was a 10- bed facility located on Jefferson Street in Jacksonville, moving to its current location in 2001. It is the third largest house in Florida providing 53-beds to serve families all over the world.
Please continue to collect the pop tabs; new knitted or crocheted afghans are appreciated as well as pre-wrapped silverware. Even though monetary donations are always welcome, in January we would like to encourage donations of pre-packaged snacks (chips, snack bars) and K-cups (coffee). These are welcome items for the families.
